Road Scholar Recognized By French Group For Its Exceptional Educational Adventures In France In 2016

Live like a local for six weeks in Aix-en-Provence, learning to speak French and trying your hand at French cooking. Bicycle through beautiful villages and past the world’s oldest vineyards in Bordeaux. Go behind the postcard in Paris to explore hidden gems and off-the-beaten path culture and neighborhoods.

Road Scholar offers nearly 50 educational adventures in France — from Basque Country to Normandy — and, in 2016, the extraordinary range of these learning experiences has earned Road Scholar the designation as Best Regional Tour Operator in France. The announcement was recently made by Atout France US in New York City at a gathering of French travel industry professionals.

“We’re honored to be recognized for our breadth of educational adventures in France,” says JoAnn Bell, senior vice president of programming at Road Scholar. “France is one of our most popular regions and Road Scholar learning adventures provide deep insight into the country's rich history and culture.”

In 2016, Road Scholar offers 47 learning adventures in France, 23 based on barges and riverboats. Its collection of learning experiences spans the country, from the island of Corsica, The Perigord, Dodogne and Basque Region in off France’s southwest to Brittany in the northwest and to France’s beating heart of Paris.

Road Scholar’s local experts and instructors are integral to in-depth learning experiences that include an array of topics and interests: cooking in the gastronomic capital of Lyon, Christmas and New Year’s Eve in Paris, the grape harvest in Burgundy, the Provence landscapes that inspired van Gogh, an Intergenerational adventure in the City of Light, a Family adventure in Nice along the French Riviera and much more.
